I grew up playing games nobody televises. Golf with my grandfather, then bowling and archery, and I fish every chance I get. I also learned to draw, which surprises people. What they have in common is that they tell you the truth right away and do not care how you feel about it.
Golf is the one that shaped me most. The lesson that changed everything was learning to stop swinging hard and start controlling the ball, and that idea has since leaked into basically every part of my life.
These days I build things and I help other people build things. I live in city, state. I am not the smartest person in most rooms and I have made peace with that. What I can do is show up, do the boring part, and keep getting a little better.
This site exists because most of what a person figures out dies with them. I would rather write it down while I still remember what it actually felt like, and putting it in public keeps me honest about it.
